Bali Mumba: Peterborough United on loan eager to “relaunch” in career after FA Cup winner
Peterborough United new boy Bali Mumba is eager to ‘kickstart’ his career after marking the start of his loan spell with his first professional goal.
He was hired as a half-time substitute and broke in to bring the score to 2-1 against their opponents in Ligue 2.
“I never thought it would turn out like this – it’s the best you can get,” he told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
Mumba started the season by making his first Premier League appearance for Norwich at Manchester City in August and the following month began a Carabao Cup draw against Liverpool.
But it was his last senior game before Saturday’s draw at Weston Homes Stadium.
“From the first minute when I came in I wanted to be positive and I wanted to change the game – I wanted to be that outlet for us, the one who gets the ball and pushes (forward) and creates chances, that’s the type player that I want to be, ”Mumba said.
“I did a one-two with Sam (Szmodics) and saw the defender reach and miss the ball and my eyes lit up. I thought ‘yes this is my chance’ and I am. have hidden. ”
His loan will continue until the end of the season and he added: “I just want to prove a point. There are people I have to prove wrong, there are always skeptics.
“I’m here for a reason, to mature in the game, and that’s my main goal, to grab every opportunity and every chance I get. They sent me here to grow and develop and I want to come back as that mature young boy and get started. “
