Café J celebrates Jerry, java and joy | Last | NDWorks

A new cafe has opened inside the Morris Inn. Café J serves Peet’s Coffee drinks, nitro and cold brews, and artisan pastries from the university’s executive pastry chef Sinai Vespieincluding spinach and feta croissants and bacon and cheddar scones.
The cafe had a soft opening ahead of Junior Parents Weekend last month, and the South Bend Regional Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, February 23.
The “J” in Café J allows the Morris Inn family to celebrate three things:
- The friendship and generosity of Jerry Hammes, who was so graciously invested in the vision and construction of the cafe.
- Java, the flagship coffee product.
- Joy, something all Café J guests will experience.
The three ‘J’s are reflected in a framed print of three Café J coasters hanging on the wall of the café.
Café J is located behind the Morris Inn reception, opposite the elevators. It is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. The full menu is available here.
