The presence of tourist villages would be beneficial in improving the living conditions of the inhabitants.
Central Lombok, W Nusa Tenggar (ANTARA) – The government of Central Lombok district in western Nusa Tenggara has made efforts to develop independent tourist destinations that meet international standards to improve the livelihoods of local residents.
“The Central District of Lombok has been designated as the host for the International Superbike (WSBK) and MotoGP Championships, which means our district has become an international tourist destination,” said Lombok District Deputy Chief HM Nursiah , during a local discussion group (FGD) in Praya, in the central district of Lombok, on Thursday.
Nursiah urged tourist villages and their operators to upgrade and modernize the tourist villages they operated to meet international standards as the Mandalika Special Economic Zone – located on Lombok Island – has been designated as a top priority tourist destination by the government.
He urged the operators of tourist villages to improve their human resources in order to maximize the commercial potential of tourist villages for the local economy and the livelihoods of residents.
“The presence of tourist villages would be beneficial in improving the livelihoods of residents,” Nursiah said.
Operators of tourist villages must maintain safety and convenience in catering for tourists visiting their tourist villages, he said.
Nursiah also reiterated the authority’s commitment to supporting tourist villages in the district by providing new facilities or education to tourist village operators.
“The development of tourist villages has been designated as a priority program of the central district of Lombok in our efforts to encourage economic recovery and growth during the COVID-19 pandemic,” he noted.
Lombok Island and the Central District of Lombok in particular are recognized as popular tourist destinations in Indonesia, with natural wonders and tourist attractions comparable to world-famous tourist destinations, he said.
The developed tourist villages in the central district of Lombok offer visitors natural wonders and cultural attractions, he noted.
