Cheap airfare is back on the cards for Australians keen to return to Bali, as Asia’s biggest low-cost airline returns to Western Australia from mid-May.

AirAsia has quietly reintroduced flights between Perth and Bali, after the popular holiday destination eased its quarantine rules for travellers.

AirAsia has restored four weekly flights between Perth and Bali from May 15, with frequency changing to daily services from June.

But the move has been made on the downside, with the low-cost favorite yet to officially announce the reintroduction.

An AirAsia spokesperson confirmed that Perth-Bali flights were back and hinted at further services to come.

“Bali has always been one of our most popular leisure destinations,” they told 7NEWS.com.au.

“While there are limited flights on sale between Perth and Bali from May 15, we are currently reviewing our new season schedule for the remainder of 2022 which we will announce soon, including any updates to our Perth to Bali.”

Aviation experts expect the return of the flight route to spark a price war with Jetstar, which slammed prices to $99 in a one-day sale.

While the cheapest seats have been purchased, some budget costs are still on offer with the cheapest one-way flight from Perth to Bali priced at $149.

Discounted flights to the holiday destination are also up for grabs from Virgin Australia, as the airline offers economy flights ahead of school holidays.

The massive sale of 1.5 million “cheap” seats includes international flights to Bali from Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, as well as a series of low-cost interstate flights to boost travel.

Qantas also kicked off its ‘Thanks a Million’ flight sale this weekend, with discounted international and interstate flights up for grabs.
