Drop in foreign tourist visits in November 2021: BPS
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Statistics Indonesia (BPS) revealed that visits by foreign tourists to Indonesia from January to November 2021 reached 1.48 million. BPS director Margo Yuwono said the numbers fell 61.82% year-on-year (year-on-year).
The number of foreign tourist arrivals from January to November 2021 included tourists visiting the country by air transport at 119.46,000. “By sea transport at 407.86 thousand and land transport at 957.57 thousand visits”, he said during a virtual press conference on Monday, January 3, 2022.
Foreign tourist arrivals in November 2021 reached 153.20,000, up 6.04% year-on-year and 3.06% from the previous month.
BPS also recorded 19.91,000 foreign tourist arrivals in November 2021, up 23.77% year-on-year; by sea at 33.63 miles and by land at 99.66 miles.
An increase in visits by foreign tourists was observed at Husein Sastranegara Airport in West Java with 500 percent, followed by Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali with 200 percent and Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Banten. with 32.58 percent.
Sam Ratulangi Airport in North Sumatra, meanwhile, recorded a drop in foreign tourist arrivals of 46.04%. Further 100% drops were also recorded at Kualanamu Airport in North Sumatra, Juanda Airport in East Java, Lombok International Airport in West Nusa Tenggara, Sultan Syarif Airport Kasim II in Riau, Hasanuddin Airport in South Sulawesi and Badaruddin II Airport in South Sumatra. .
