Hi Bali! Ikea today opens its first store outside of Java
Those of us in Bali can now say a good hej to Swedish meatballs and Scandinavian housewares, as Ikea officially expanded outside the island of Java today with the opening of its fifth Indonesian outlet.
In September, an ongoing renovation project of a Giant supermarket in Kuta gained traction online as there were many hints that the store was going to be turned into an Ikea store.

The wait / speculation is over with the opening of Ikea in Bali today. And those of you who crave those iconic Swedish meatballs or just can’t resist some practical and fairly affordable household items can head to the Kuta Central Park store.
The outlet opened to the public today at noon, but from tomorrow its opening hours will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The Swedish furniture brand only opened its fourth outlet in Jakarta Garden City in September, with the opening of its store in Bali marking the brand’s debut outside of Java. Following the closure of the large Giant supermarket chain in Indonesia earlier this year, PT Hero Supermarket — which operates the two retail outlets in Indonesia — announced that five of its Giant stores will be transformed into new ones.
