Magnitude 4.6 earthquake near Mataram-Lombok, ID.17 Lombok (undefined), West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia
Earthquake 4.6 Indonesia: Bali Sea August 1, 2021 8:56 p.m. (GMT +8)
According to preliminary data, the earthquake was located at a great depth of 341 km. The strength of the earthquake may have been tempered by its great relative depth below the surface, making it weaker in absolute terms. The exact magnitude, epicenter and depth of the quake could be revised in the coming hours or minutes, as seismologists review the data and refine their calculations, or when other agencies release their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) which listed the earthquake at a magnitude of 4.5.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the earthquake was felt by many people and caused no damage. In Bangsal (100 inhabitants, 77 km), Gili Air (1,800 inhabitants, 90 km) and Mataram-Lombok (318,700 inhabitants, 113 km), the earthquake was probably not felt.
VolcanoDiscovery will automatically update the magnitude and depth if these change and follow up if other significant earthquake news becomes available.
