Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian government has determined that Public Activity Level 1 Restrictions (PPKM) will be enforced across the country, except in one district in West Papua that is not qualified for status advancement.
“We must be grateful that after two years of hard work to manage the COVID-19 pandemic, the situation is improving significantly, as we extend the Ministerial Instruction (on the management of the COVID-19 pandemic). All (128) regions in Java and Bali islands are now under the Tier 1 PPKM regime,” Interior Ministry Regional Administration Development Director General Safrizal said on Thursday.
The Chief Executive noted that out of the 385 districts and cities outside of Java and Bali that are also under Tier 1 PPKM, only Teluk Bintuni District in West Papua remains under Tier 2 PPKM.
“No cities and districts in Java, Bali or outside the Java and Bali region are under PPKM Levels 3 and 3,” he said.

He noted that due to an improving pandemic situation in Indonesia, the ministry issued new regulations on PPKM in Indonesian regions which will be valid from June 7 to July 4.
While Minister of Interior Regulation No. 29 of 2022 regulates the application of PPKM in Java and Bali regions, Minister of Interior Regulation No. 30 of 2022 will regulate the application of PPKM in outside the Java and Bali regions, he noted.
The official said regional governments assessed the extension of PPKM based on the rate of community transmission of public health care adjustment and social restriction indicators set by the Ministry of Health.

“The consequences of the regions currently under the Tier 1 PPKM regime are that public activities in many sectors (of the region) can resume without capacity restrictions,” Safrizal noted.
Despite the easing, the chief executive urged residents to maintain health protocols, including wearing masks, and to remain vigilant against potential COVID-19 infections.
In addition, the entry restriction for travelers arriving from international journeys has been eased, he said, adding that the relaxation also includes the designation of open airspace for Indonesian Hajj travelers who will perform their pilgrimage. in Saudi Arabia this year.
“As stated earlier, we are currently designing strategies to move into the endemic stage of COVID-19. Therefore, all parties will exert efforts to achieve our goals,” Safrizal concluded.
