The road will connect Lombok Airport and Mandalika as the site of the 2021 International Superbike and 2022 MotoGP. The road will reduce the travel time to Mandalika from 30 minutes to 15 minutes.
“Progress (of construction) has reached 90% completion,” said Ridwan Syah, head of the West Nusa Tenggara Public Works and Public Housing Bureau (PUPR) last Sunday.
Construction of the 17-kilometer road is expected to be completed later this month with a total budget of IDR 800 billion. In November, the road will start operating, Syah said.
“By the end of September, the road will be functional and it will host the World Superbike in November,” he said.
Previously, the director general of highways of the PUPR ministry, Hedy Rahadian, had planned the construction of the Lombok – Mandalika airport bypass road, comprising three lots.
The first package covering 4.3 km is carried out by PT Nindya Karya-Bumi Agung, the second package covering 9.70 km by construction contractors PT Adhi Karya – PT Metro Lestari Utama, while the third package carried out by PT Yasa Patria Perkasa stretches for 3.38 km.
