Ongoing recovery program for the PKPU human initiative in Lombok – Indonesia
LOMBOK – The earthquake struck Lombok in July 2018, affected more than 70,000 damaged houses, more than 431,000 displaced and still in need of humanitarian assistance, with losses of up to 7.7 billion dirhams.
Not only the concern over the earthquake in Sulawesi, but also the ongoing recovery phase in Lombok. During the transition, PKPU Human Initiative targeted 1,000 shelters, in northern Lombok and Sembalun district, East Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat.
Ferry Suranto, as the coordination team in Lombok, said people still need help, until the situation improves. PKPU Human Initiative had planned a recovery program in October 2018.
âThis month, we continue to provide assistance and plan to distribute 747 logistics and hygiene kits to 3,735 beneficiaries. Beside that, we will pour over 180,000 liters of water in the center of Lombok, the west of Lombok and the north of Lombok as well. At least 12 water tanks will be distributed in some drought areas around Lombok, âFerry said.
PKPU Human Initiative built 3 shelter units for vulnerable people, 5 laterine units, 3 water well units and 5 other temporary schools.
âPreviously, we launched 1 temporary school unit to support learning activities for affected students, and we had completed 406 shelters and will build 143 units from 1,000 targeted shelters,â Ferry said.
Based on the President’s Instruction no. 5, 2018 on accelerating rehabilitation and reconstruction after the earthquake, state “basic infrastructure to support education, health, religion and economic support facilities until December last and other installations no more than 2019 â.
