South Sumatra and West Java cooperate to strengthen MSMEs
Palembang, South Sumatra (ANTARA) – The governments of South Sumatra and West Java are cooperating to foster the strengthening of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the two provinces to expand their market share.
The two provinces have agreed to enhance cooperation from B2B or business-to-business to B2C or business-to-customer, South Sumatra Governor Herman Deru said while attending a commemoration event for the National MSME Day 2022 in Bandung, West Java on Friday.
“Through B2C, the sale of goods or services from MSME actors can be made directly to consumers, whether individuals or groups,” he said, according to the social media page. of public relations of the provincial government of South Sumatra.
The development of MSMEs should be a concern for all parties, as MSMEs have been proven to survive amidst economic shocks, Deru noted. In fact, MSMEs are capable of sustaining the economy of the country.
Amid global economic shocks marked by the energy and food crises, Indonesia has so far been able to survive on its natural resources.
Faced with this situation, the role of MSME actors is essential, especially in turning the wheels of the economy in the real sector.
Deru said that the South Sumatra government is interested in the innovation of the West Java government, which is to create a shopping center for MSMEs in an open space.
According to him, this innovation can be emulated by South Sumatra, which has no problem providing land. Currently, South Sumatra is also focusing on running its food self-sufficiency program, namely the South Sumatra Food Self-Sufficiency Movement (GSMP) program, which was launched in 2021.
The program invites the community to use their yards and small plots of land to grow crops and raise livestock to meet household food needs.
“We have proven that this has an impact, from maintaining economic growth to reducing poverty,” he stressed.
The governor expressed hope that the GSMP program could be adopted by other provinces in the country, especially West Java.
