Update on vacations in Spain, Greece, America, Bali and Maldives with new Covid tests for travelers
With upcoming changes to current travel restrictions and countries passing along the traffic light system, travel agents are seeing an increase in bookings as confidence grows.
There are still over 60 countries on the Red List but with many European destinations in the Amber and Green Lists, Brits are now heading to their local travel agencies more often.
Hay’s Travel took over national travel company Thomas Cook in October 2019 after the company fell under administration.
Months later, travel bans, uncertainty and lack of confidence in traveling abroad hit the industry hard.
However, now the travel agents at the Preston branch are much more certain about the future of the industry.

Stacey Gill, Preston branch manager, said: “It is good news that Spain remains Amber and France is not on the Amber Plus list and there are new countries on the list. green to help people take vacations or see family and friends.
“We are still seeing an increase in bookings for popular European countries and island destinations such as Greece and Spain, as well as for long-haul travel, special vacations such as the Maldives, America, Bali and the cruises around the world. “
Current travel restrictions indicate that Amber List countries require travelers to the UK to take a Covid-19 test three days before traveling.
Unvaccinated people returning to England must self-quarantine for 10 days unless fully vaccinated or under 18.
Those who do not have vaccines must then take a PCR test on the second and eighth day.
For those who are vaccinated, a 10 day quarantine is not required, but a PCR test must be performed on the second day and must be booked before leaving for the UK.
No quarantine is required for countries on the green list, but a second day test must be performed and any positive test will result in a 10 day quarantine.
Organizing Covid testing can be difficult while organizing travel plans and the Hays Travel team says they are starting to make positive changes within the industry.
“We help our customers understand the requirements so that they are not too onerous for anyone who wants to travel this summer,” said Stacey.
“For example, we’ve introduced video PCR tests that you take with you in your suitcase instead of worrying about it at your destination.
“Our customers are spending more than usual to improve their vacations – many want something very special to look forward to and with our direct debit payment options, this makes things more affordable than ever.
“The biggest impact is on future bookings for later this year and 2022.
“People are choosing to book now, using peace of mind guarantees and insurance to ensure they have their choice of vacation destination, accommodation and dates for when and where they want to go.
“Visit us in branch, by email or by phone to discuss your future vacation plans with our team of experts.
